What is Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym?
The Bowflex is a strength training apparatus meant for home use. It offers more than 50 exercises for you to do, but I must say a smart person picks few, sticks to those and masters them. It is an alternative to going to a real gym. Many people have packed some muscle and lost fat with the aid of this device (naturally, you also need your diet in order!).
Who should buy it?
Ideally, a person who wants to get in shape but doesn’t want to the gym should buy this. The one-time cost of the Bowflex is of course higher than gym, but there are no monthly fees or subscriptions for this. If free weights or the general gym environment frightens you, this apparatus is a good alternative for training in peace.
What can you do with this?
As said above, over 50 exercises can be done with this thing. However, I wouldn’t only look at the number, but actually at the types of exercises. Probably the two most important ones you can do for upper body are flat bench press and lat pulldowns. However, possible are also inclime/decline chest work, bicep curls, tricep extensions and deltoid rows.
Keep in mind the Bowflex is not just for upper body. If you want, your lower body gets also its share of training. The most important exercises for that are leg extensions, squats and ab crunches.
Will Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym get me in shape?
It will get you in shape, if you stick to it and eat accordingly. Your muscles don’t know if it’s a home gym, free weights or bodyweight exercises that is putting a stress on them. The most important thing is the plan, progression in resistance and willingness to continue. You also need to watch your diet for this.
What is good about Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym?
You can work out the most important bodyparts with this apparatus. Hence, you will look better without leaving your home if you just put in the effort.
The Bowflex is suitable for taller people. One man commented he is 6’6″ and can operate the machine just fine!
There is no need to change cables when going from one exercise to another. The item is built so that the rods are attached to all the handles. This saves a lot of time and frustration.
The maximum weight user can be is 300 pounds. In my opinion, it’s enough even for people who’re looking to lose weight (fat) and build some muscle instead.
You can remove the leg extension part, thus the device will take less space in your room.
What are the disadvantages?
The maximum standard poundage is 210 pounds maximum. Now, it’s easily enough for the untrained and beginners, but for intermediates you definitely want more. The absolute maximum seems to be 310 pounds with extra rods, but yeah it costs extra as well.
It only has handles, no bar, for exercises such as lat pulldowns. If you prefer a bar, you can get that, but it’s extra and you need to pay accordingly.
Some important exercises can not be done with this. Those include leg presses and the deadlift (however out of the big three strength exercises, you can still do squat and bench press!).
How long does it last?
Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym lasts for several years. The rods are given a warranty of 7 years, and of course you can buy more if they break. Given that the machine lasts at least 3 years, and a gym membership is ~50 dollars a month, you can easily calculate which will be cheaper (this Bowflex!).
How much space does it take?
The actual footprint is 38″ x 28″ inches. But, that is not the whole story. You definitely need more space to actually carry out the exercises. The exact required space is 76″ width, 78″ depth and 85″ height. Also bear in mind it doesn’t fold up for storage – the Bowflex stays the same unless you disassemble it.
The shipping weight is 175 pounds, better to make sure you can get it carried to your flat!
Is it easy to assemble?
The time it takes to assemble the Bowflex depends a lot on the person. For some, putting the machine together is easy. However, if you’re less tech savvy, it might take longer. To give you an idea, people have been reporting anything from 1 hour to 2.5 hours. All in all, not too big an effort in the grand scheme of things.
Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym provides a full body workout at your home. Need I say more? If gym is not your cup of tea, this Bowflex could be the solution. It’s a machine that helps you to get in shape and it lasts for many years. If you actively use it and watch what you put in your mouth, the change in your body is inevitable. Also keep in mind the financial side: in the long run, this device will be cheaper than gym membership!
