Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S Home Gym Review
It is not a surprise that most people (if not everybody!) wants to look good. There’s just something pleasant in a healthy-looking human, be it a toned woman or muscular man. For countless of years, people have been religiously going to gym to achieve this common goal of looking good. But, there has also been “rebels” – individuals who chose something else than a traditional, monthly-fee gym… They have chosen a home fitness machine such as Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S. After checking out some user reviews, the apparatus in question surely looks like an effective alternative. Yet, judging should not be done too hastily…
What exactly is this machine?
Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S, like all home gyms, is a piece of fitness equipment that was made to get you in shape and look good. The unit in question offers a plethora of exercises for you – as you can see, it looks rather complex with all of the stations provided! Despite its high price the Body-Solid has been selling well for years, and it has also won a consumer’s magazine best buy home gym award. It’s safe to say the machine has helped people to get from fat to fit for years!
A funny thing, it looks like two people can exercises at the same time due to two benches. But all the cables are linked so only one person can use it at a time.
What exercises can I do?
To target chest, you can do pec flies or regular bench press. Also possible are pullovers. For chest’s partner, the shoulders, feel free to do deltoid raises, shoulder press or shoulder shrug.
You can also work abs. The possible exercises are ab crunch and oblique bend. To hit your back, there are upright row, bent over row and seated row to choose from. With the lat-bar, lat pulldowns are doable as well.
Training your biceps and triceps is not a problem. Available are standing curls, tricep extensions and press downs.
For the legs, the selection consists of leg curls & extensions, glute kicks, thigh abductions/adductions and calf presses.
There are a few useful accessories included, such as lat bar and straight bar and a strap for triceps and abs.
The weight stack is 210lbs. One plate weighs 10lbs. They are made of cast iron. The 210lbs total weight might not sound much, but due to the pulley system it’s going to give resistance of about 300 pounds in reality. The pulleys themselves are made of sturdy plastic and metal.
There’s a lifetime warranty for frame, welds, pulleys, bushings, bearings, hardware, plates, guide rods, cables, upholstery and grips. In another words, it’s all-inclusive warranty, the whole machine is covered for lifetime.
Some useful movements are not possible with this home gym, for example military press or pull/chin ups or leg presses.
The apparatus is more expensive than many home machines – however I can not stress enough that this is a commercial gym quality, not a cheap wobbly one.
Assembly can be bit tough, more on that below.
Does Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S make me fit?
The short answer is, yes. The long answer is, any home gym will make you fit if you use it long enough. It’s not going to happen over a day, a week or even a month. After approximately three months of use you will start to see difference in your body. Of course, what kind of difference you will see will be dictated a lot by your diet. If you eat less than you consume, you’ll get muscle toning which actually means lower body fat percentage. On the other hand, if you eat more than your body requires, you will see some new muscle built. So yes, this Body-Solid will get you in shape, it’s just a matter of using it for more than a week!
Why should I choose this over a traditional gym?
You can definitely exercise in private with this Body-Solid! Not everybody likes to work out where other people are watching, and maybe even criticizing your exercises. You might also be conscious about your body, for example if you’re overweight, and don’t want to show yourself in workout clothes to folks. Another advantage is the long-term costs. Surely, in the beginning, this Body-Solid will be rather expensive, but once it’s bought there are no extra fees. To a gym, you will be giving 30-50 bucks every month. That is 500 dollars a year.
Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S looks like a complex machine. Indeed, it will take some effort to get it assembled. People have been reporting around 8 hours – it sounds a lot but you can split it to several days. You need socket wrenches for the assembly, they are not included.
Once it’s put together, the dimensions are 51″ width, 83″ length and 83″ height. The apparatus will weigh about 450 pounds with the weight stack.
Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S is admittedly one of the expensive home gyms, but it also offers a lot for your money. There are enough stations to hit every body part with right movements, and the selection of exercises is so big you could almost compare this to a commercial gym. Once you get the apparatus assembled and start working out regularly, you will see a change in your body – either fat has been lost or muscle have been built. The Body-Solid is great tool for both goals, all it takes from your part is perseverance and willpower!
